The new built-in version of our smart lock has been well received by hospitals - among other things, by offering a number of special features developed in close co-operation with them.
When we set out to develop a New version of Ambitlocker, that could be built into cabinets, it was really because we had seen a broad need that existed in many industries.
In parallel, we also significantly developed the cloud software behind the solution. And this caused the solution to narrow in a specific direction. The development took place in close dialogue with some of the largest and most exciting customers we already had for the solution: hospitals. Therefore, the solution has also been highly customised to their needs.
In practice, this means that they can monitor and streamline locker access and consumption on a large scale. The overview is managed centrally. From here, codes are also assigned to new users - and you can efficiently help open lockers or send new codes to remote users.
Today, the cloud has several of these features that have been specially developed for hospitals. And this has turned out to be a very good thing for the product.
A specialised solution
Ambitlocker started as a broad smart lock solution. The big learning during development has been that there was a lot of value in targeting the solution to one segment. There are a lot of great lock manufacturers out there, but now we have the opportunity to stand out by being the best at solving the specific needs of a specific type of user. So even though the process has narrowed the product, today we are really happy with the decision.
We have sold to several hospitals that are currently installing the Build-in version. And we can see that it's starting to spread like wildfire. They also talk to each other across hospitals, which makes it much easier for us when we want to take the solution to the next hospital. And there are actually a lot of hospitals in Denmark - with a lot of employees.
Wider reach or wider segments?
Our overriding focus is still hospitals. In the long term, however, we would still like to do many more things, because the potential is still great - also outside Danish hospitals.
Whether this means that we have to focus on hospitals abroad or whether we can take the solution to completely different segments, we don't know yet.
What is certain, however, is that there are quite a few comparable workplaces that need a tight system for a large number of employees. Only time will tell if the hospital-specialised cloud can meet their needs.
