THE STORY ABOUT US

We founded Lolle & Nielsen Inventions in 2010. We specialise in rethinking traditional patterns and we approach each project with an open mindset to achieve a high degree of originality every time. We put our engineering expertise into practice, and new products benefit from the lessons learnt from previous projects. We insist on inventing new solutions that drive a positive development.

In 2013, we implemented a strategy with three focus areas that we are still working with.

- Own projects with royalties in partnerships, where we handle all development and transfer the commercial rights to partners who can produce and sell the products, such as our window mounting system Upclimber with partner Starke Arvid.

- Innovation projects with a societal benefit that enable financing with funds, such as the project to establish eelgrass beds.

- Commissioned tasks, such as entire development projects from need to industrialised product, such as the waste management systems for the City of Copenhagen

A fourth focus area was added later, namely Create start-ups as a spin-out of the inventor company. Through the expanded strategy, the Conhoist crane system and the Ambitlocker digital locking system were born.

In 2020 we sharpened Focus on sustainability for all active development projects, and we aim to have this as the primary focus of all new projects going forward.

Below is the chronology in highlights.

BRIEF HISTORY OF LOLLE & NIELSEN INVENTIONS

2010: The company founded In the summer of 2010, we - Andreas Lolle and Steffen Nielsen - completed our master's thesis at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen and decided to start the company Lolle & Nielsen Inventions together. Initially, we planned to build the entire business around one product, but when we couldn't get funding for the project, we were forced to work on other projects as well. This sparked an interest in inventing and launching more projects, which became the backbone of Lolle & Nielsen Inventions.

2012: Improving the working environment We got involved in the SmartMover project with a handful of partners in 2010. We finalised the project in 2012 and with SmartMover we got our first patent and our first product on the market. SmartMover has sold more than 1,200 machines and has had a significant positive effect on the working environment for masons. The project was the beginning of more products to improve the working environment in the construction industry.

2013: The first employees

After three years as two founders working alone, we hired our first employees to increase the number of active projects. Today we are a team of 6 inventors.

2015: New office

In 2015, we moved into our new office in Sydhavnen in Copenhagen. The facilities provided room for growth, and with our very own workshop, it's the perfect place to experiment and build prototypes.

2016: A whole new market

The *Opløft* height adjustable desk began as a need for a smarter and more dynamic solution for our own office. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, we partnered with Posturite for production and distribution.

Opløft was our first product for the consumer market and also our first piece of furniture. Since then, we have developed several other height-adjustable tables, a functional bench for Copenhagen Business School and various types of urban furniture for the City of Copenhagen

2018: Internet of Things

Our products were primarily mechatronic until 2018. Together with Mylocker, we saw great potential in a digital (IoT) lock for cluster monitoring. The concept forced us to gain new competences in firmware and software development.

These competences paved the way for other projects, such as the ’smart’ cycle path in Egedal Municipality.

IoT also added a whole new dimension to the Conhoist concept. IoT technology made it possible to monitor the crane system centrally, opening the door to a new business model: Lift-as-a-Service.

2019: Furniture supplier

The bench we designed for Copenhagen Business School in 2017 was a huge success and CBS decided to make it their “signature piece of furniture” across the campus’ various locations.

Together with our trusted subcontractors, we chose to act as furniture supplier to CBS. This role gives us valuable insights that are useful when working with our other partners who normally fulfil this role.

2021: Offspring Start-Up

We started developing the IoT lock Ambitlocker together with Mylocker in 2017 and In 2021, we were ready to kickstart the new start-up.

We own part of the company, are represented in the board of directors and development department of Ambitlocker.

2022: An everyday product for consumers

The City of Copenhagen came to us wanting a good solution for sorting food waste and in 2024 it was rolled out throughout Copenhagen and Frederiksberg Municipality. 8,000 bio bag dispensers and hundreds of thousands of baskets and holders.

In many ways a milestone for us, as it suddenly became easier to point to an example we were behind that non-professionals could relate to, as everyone in the Greater Copenhagen area suddenly knew about the system.

2023: New offspring start-up

Conhoist is a battery-powered IoT gantry crane system that fits on any scaffolding canopy. Conhoist can lift any load up to 800kg in all three dimensions.

Conhoist ApS is an independent company.
The product was launched in mid 2023.

2024: New eelgrass project
Developing technology for large-scale planting

In collaboration with Blue Research and with support from MUDP and GUDP, we are developing technologies to restore eelgrass on the seabed on a large scale.

The project focuses on two key components: a germination system where seeds germinate in tubes, and a planter designed to efficiently place these tubes on the seabed. Together, the solutions will make large-scale eelgrass replanting both practical and efficient.

2025: New strong partnership

In 2025, we entered into a partnership with Swedish Starke Arvid to produce and distribute the Upclimber system.

We have high expectations for the collaboration and hope that we can develop more new products together.
